Harston's

A year before the earthquake the original Harstons building was erected.   In 1932 it was restored to its former glory.   From 1930 until til 1986 it was owned by a Mr Neville Harston.  He used it as a music shop and warehouse.  It is now a bar and pub.

In 1990(?) the building received a Merit award from the Art Deco Trust for 'preserving a Napier tradition'
In 1994(?) it was sold after 10 years of neglect, the interior was altered by demolishing the separating wall between Harstons & Alsops.  The facade was repaired and repainted.  Floodlights were also installed.
