As well as the unique architecture in Napier, the Hawkes Bay is big on wine being a top producer. The grapes are grown around the area and then sent through Napier for export.
The Hawkes Bay is the largest cross-bred wool centre in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest apple, pear and stone fruit areas of New Zealand.
Large amounts of frozen meat, wool, wood pulp and timber also pass through Napier's port each year.
