Napier

Napier is a New Zealand city with a seaport, located in the Hawke's Bay on the eastern coast of the North Island. Much of the city was rebuilt (in Art Deco style) after 1931, when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake stuck.

As well as the unique architecture in Napier, the Hawkes Bay is big on wine being a top producer. The grapes are grown around the area and then sent through Napier for export.

The Hawkes Bay is the largest cross-bred wool centre in the Southern Hemisphere an
d one of the largest apple, pear and stone fruit areas of New Zealand.

Large amounts of frozen meat, wool, wood pulp and timber also pass through Napier's port each year.

Population 57,240 (2013)
